BT

Starting at BT in 2017, I joined a newly-formed studio team as a Senior UI Designer. The big task at hand was for the BT website to have a complete re-design. Instead of being hardcoded, the site would be rebuilt on the AEM (Adobe Experience Manager) platform using web components and content managed. A new digital Styleguide had been created before I joined. This contained all the design essentials, with many more components to be added as pages were being designed. The first priority pages to be built were customer hub pages and learn pages - educational pages with striking visuals and clear navigation with informative content. To achieve the end result, a team of Producers, UX designers, Copywriters and UI designers were compiled. Daily stand-ups and review sessions were put in place to call out any blockers and help progress the pages. The pages were built from a combination of design components. These sizes in desktop view (working over a 12 column grid) were banners of 400px, 600px and 800px height, and column split images in 16:9 ratio. When in tablet, the banners resorted to one size (768px x 320) whilst maintaining column splits of 16:9 ratio. Additionally, when in mobile, all images resort to 16:9 ratio. I re-designed the BT Hompage and helped art direct many of the other pages that were being built by designers I managed. Each page went into weekly stakeholder meetings to be reviewed and ultimately approved. The new pages had been a dramatic change to BT’s original website and helped to modernise BT’s image and increase sales.
